All massage sessions are customized using a personalized blend of the following techniques:
Hot Stone Therapy- This special treat is included in all massage sessions. The hot stones warm muscle tissue and have a sedative affect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.
Swedish Massage– This type of massage is beneficial for both your physical body and your emotional well-being. By using special techniques the therapist can remove tension from the muscles, increase flexibility, reduce pain, increase blood circulation, and remove lymph and metabolic wastes from your muscle tissues. This decreases depression and anxiety while promoting feelings of well-being.
Deep Tissue Massage- This type of massage uses firm pressure and manipulative techniques to release deep layers of tissue, including tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints) relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries.
Injury Related Massage- This type of massage uses special techniques to relieve the pain and discomfort of common injuries (whiplash, sciatica, tennis elbow, etc.) while assisting your body’s natural healing process to help speed up recovery.
Trigger Point Therapy- Trigger point is a tender area in a muscle that causes pain to refer to other areas of the body, many times creating the symptoms of common injuries. The most common locations of trigger points are the neck, shoulders, back and hips, but you may feel pain in the extremities as a result of these tender spots. Untreated trigger points can lead to migraine syndromes, more severe radiating pain, soft tissue damage or muscle atrophy.
Sports Massage- This type of massage is beneficial for athletes of all levels. By using special stroke speeds and techniques along with assisted stretching the therapist can reduce muscle tension, help athletes monitor muscle tone, reduce muscle hypertonicity, increase range of motion, and improve soft tissue function.
Neuromusclular Therapy – This type of massage is a soft tissue manipulation that treats underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. It addresses nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems caused by repetitive movement injuries.
Pregnancy Massage- During pregnancy use of medication and other medical options may be more limited. Using special pillows to help get you into a comfortable position, the therapist will use gentle, relaxing strokes that can reduce stress, decrease arm and leg swelling, and relieve muscle and joint pain.
Reflexology- This type of massage uses hand, thumb and finger techniques to stimulate certain areas of the feet (believed to correspond to different parts of the body). Benefits include increases health and feelings of well-being.
Acupressure- Acupressure is much like acupuncture; however gentle finger pressure is used (instead of needles) on pressure points and meridians. As the acupressure points are stimulated, muscular tension releases, circulation of blood is promoted, and the body’s life force energy is enhanced to aid in healing.
